Many people, me included, gravitate to white, black, and gray colored clothing. The main reason being that we aren’t sure what colors matches with what or how to style up. But worry no more because we have outlined a few steps to master color mixing.
With these tips, you will master the art of matching a variety of patterns and tones in your outfit. You will be surprised by the vibrant look you will see if you put these tips to practice.
Mixing up different colors is challenging, especially, if you don’t know the right tricks. But, there is a simple way to go about it- start with one color and include it in every outfit in your wardrobe.
If you master how to match up that one color, branch out more and start mixing in a variety of tones. For instance, rust and blush are monochrome.
Wear fewer neutrals
Neutrals fall in plenty of colors ranging from beige, navy, gray, olive green, black, brown, and as well metallic.
It’s more fun to wear silver or gold neutrals. For instance, when you wear a shiny top, pair it up with a bold pop of color, it brings out your outfit quite flawlessly.
Use primary colors
When mixing up a variety of colors, start with the primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow. These specific colors can help you create other unique colors. For instance, a pair of yellow and blue make green, red and blue make purple, and much more.
These tones look much better when one is worn on top while the other in the bottom or when worn all together.
Go for analogous tones
You can probably remember this elementary-school art – the color wheel. The idea behind this art mainly is the whole rainbow colors in a circle.
Shades that lie next to each other are known as analogous colors. On the other hand, hues that lie opposite to each other are known as contrasting colors. Have a look at the circle.
Back to our topic, analogous colors – colors next to each other tend to look great when styled up together. For instance, take a look at the model for the yellow-green match. It looks perfect when styled up together. Again, other great combinations include pink and red, and green and blue. You should try them.
Mix contrasting hues
Back to the color model, let’s look at the opposite colors. Just because they oppositely lie beside each other doesn’t mean that they can’t pair up. For instance, look at the model for the pink and yellow, you can dress up on a purple party dress and pair it up with a pair of bright yellow earrings.
Another great match is a pastel-pink blouse with a jewel-toned green trouser and a bralette.
If worried about mixing up colors wrongly, just ask for help from a friend or professional who knows how to compliment colors well. But as well try out our mixing tips and am sure you will find one that works for you.
